Meet Courtney

My Story

Hi, My Name is Courtney

Creator of A Thousand Parrots and Parrots Pilates. The name comes from one of those moments in life that you want to freeze and hold on to forever. When I was eighteen, I went to India for a year. I was walking past a peanut field, and there were hundreds, if not thousands of parrots swooping to eat bugs and peanuts from the field. The sun was rising over the mango trees. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve seen.

I remember pausing, drinking in the view, and it’s a moment I think of often as my happy place.  I want to create those kind of moments with you. I want you to be able to create those moments for yourself. Happiness usually doesn’t come from the big moments. It doesn’t last after the award, the viral video, or whatever you might determine as your greatest success. Happiness comes from holding on to the little moments. Holding hands as you walk the dog or laughing until you cry with friends.

What I’m About

Pilates

I was introduced to Pilates at my town’s fitness center when I was about 14 years old. Since then I’ve practiced in group classes whenever possible. From 2018-2019, I taught Pilates as a volunteer at a women’s shelter. In 2019, I began teaching at a medically oriented gym. Unfortunately, that opportunity ended with Covid-19. I currently teach group mat classes at the Prescott in Groton, MA. I am in the process of becoming a certified Stott Pilates Instructor.

The Arts

I have been a life long lover of the arts. I grew up with music, creative writing, and the outdoors. I write poetry and I dream of writing a book someday.

Sustainable Living

We all know the earth is in trouble. I want to contribute to the well-being of the planet. I believe that begins with us, but we must also work as a community to bring about societal change.
